 System-Tray

 by m00nraker on: Jul 31 2010

Score 50%

Hi Xavier.

0.5 works excellent, thank you very much.

Μaybe one thing:

When I click the option "Show system tray icon" then kwooty minimizes to system tray when closing the main window.

When I logout and login in again, kwooty is still in the system tray. That's fine, the behaviour is e.g. like kmail. But after a login the main window of kwooty gets opened everytimė.

It would be nicę when kwooty remains in the system tray without opening the main windows after each login. I mean the application should start minimized to system tray without opening the main window.

Thats an idea, maybe for next release.

Thanks again.
Kai

Hi Kai,

As I was planing to release a tiny version of kwooty during vacation, your comment arrives just in time !
So kwooty's main window should now be minimized after a new login session in this 0.5.1.

Thx again for feedback. :)

Xavier

Thanks for this excellent applic.

Maybe, you could allow more usenet servers recorded and the multi servers connexions ?

And too, the rebuilt of some files cutted (001, 002, etc.) with lxsplit or hjsplit.
A simple "lxsplit -j *.001" is enough to join what you want.

Have a nice day. :)

 A little issue with kwallet

 by m00nraker on: Nov 10 2010

Xavier, thank you very much for this great new release. No better nzb app out there...

But maybe I found a little bug:

There is an issue with the Kwallet integration. After updating to 0.6 I activated the feature "store passwords with Kwallet" in Kwooty's connection settings. I also configured Kwooty to remain in system tray, so it will be loaded automatically on KDE start.

On the first view, everything seems to work fine. Kwooty was loaded on KDE start (minimized to system tray). But sometimes (not always) when I open Kwooty's settings after a period of time, the following error message appears:

"No running Kwallet found. Passwords will be saved in plaintext."

I think the problem is:

When my wallet is open (wallet symbol in system tray), Kwooty doesn't create the error message. Now, waiting a period of time, the wallet will be closed automatically. When I then enter Kwooty settings, Kwooty tries to access the wallet, which was auto closed before. Kwooty can't access the wallet and does not reopen the wallet again and finally produces the error message. The checkbox in the Kwooty settings will be disabled automatically in some cases.
When I close the wallet manually by using the wallet manager (close all wallets function), then Kwooty also produces the error message.

Sollution: Kwooty should reopen the wallet, if it is closed.

But you should know it better :-)

A second thing:

Before I upgraded to 0.6 the password for the server was stored in the Kwooty config file in plaintext. After upgrading to 0.6, I activated the Kwallet support for Kwooty. Then Kwooty stores the password in the wallet. But the password in plaintext is still remaining in the config file. Activating the Kwallet support should auto remove any password from the config file. Otherwise the use of the wallet system doesn't make sense.

Thanks again.

Hi Kai,

Thank you notifying me about that issue on kwallet. The details you provided help very much to point the issue.

About credentials not being removed from settings file when kwallet is used, it normally should.
It's probably due to credential from config kwooty's file prior to 0.6 that was not correctly removed.

Anyway fixes are already on trunk :) !

Thanks again.

Cheers,
Xavier

 Watch folder not working

by marcs on: Nov 19 2010

Hello! It never worked for me since 0.4 and neither does in 0.6.0. The nzbs in the watched folder are simply not improted at startup nor deleted when download is finished. Btw. nice German translation in 0.6.0, thanks.

Marcs,

The watch folder plugin works like that :

Only new .nzb files put in a user-specified watch folder will automatically be enqueued as long as kwooty is started.

At startup, the watch folder will only wait for new nzb files and will not deal with eventual previous nzb files found in the watch folder.

If you get the same behviour on your side, it works as expected.

Sure an handbook would be useful, I will think about it...

Cheers,
Xavier

Xavier! Thanks, but it doesn't work like that here. In fact nothing happens if a new nzb gets created... What more info should I provide?

Hi Marcs.

I can't confirm that. The watch-folder plugin works perfectly for me (openSuse 11.3/KDE 4.5.3/Kwooty 0.6) and I never had problems before with the watch-folder plugin. When I manually save/copy a .nzb file to my watch-folder, it will be enqued in kwooty. It works really nice. But remember, it only works when kwooty was started before.

Beside the watch-folder plugin, this also works fine: When I download a nzb file (e.g. via firefox), I can choose to open it with kwooty. Then it will be automatically enqued in kwooty.

May I ask u a stupid question: Did you really not forget to activate the plugin (marked checkbox)?

Another thing: Try to delete the whole kwooty config-files:
Quit kwooty and delete this:
~/.kde4/share/apps/kwooty/*
~/.kde4/share/config/kwootyrc
Then restart kwooty and try again.

Maybe your KDE SC is outdated?
Cheers...
