The application notification appear on the task button for open apps. The rest of notifications appear on default possition.

Any ideas?

Nuevo concepto de notificaciones para KDE 4.x.

¿Alguna idea?

This is an excellent concept. Can you make it happen?

 Bad idea

Notifications will eat whole screen space.
Check http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Minimized+Notifications?content=111192 - this is my choice.

Why not both options?

it's not only screen clutter, but this has a few design flaws as well.

a) it breaks the "single point of entrace" idea the current notification system was created around (i.e. the system talks to you at one defined point - this makes it easier to react/ignore/handle things)

b) taskbar entries represent windows, not applications, so if an app sends out a message but has severeal windows (that already hits dolphin) the attachement is heuristic (or the protocol needs an WinID field extension, this cannot be done inside KDE and the experience with extensions to esp. this protocol isn't too promising)

c) windows already use NETWM to communicate urgency, usually by flashing the taskbar item (if there's one) so you'd have to interferring concepts/protocols

d) these notifications potentially intersect the window preview or (worse) the window group/context menu (if/when either is used)

e) they clutter the screen ;-)

i assume to get this realized you'll have to iron at least the above issues (and "a" is rather matter of policy, so instead of an iron you'll have to use diplomacy =D

...I think it would be a little too
much if notifications came up all over the
place... I think that the way that it is
is better.... with one notification area,
voted good for a good looking mockup tho.

good effort!

 Already done (partial)

Something like this (using Plasma data engine) is part of library intended for dock like task managers (will be used in new version of Fancy Tasks and maybe Daisy and others, when ready).
Integration of notifications will be optional (disabled by default) and will use GUI similar to that from System Tray.

Life is unfair...
