Description:

Plastikzilla is a theme for Mozilla to make it have the same look as the KDE programs with the Plastik style and the Crystal SVG 1.0 icon set.

FIREFOX USERS: This theme is only for Mozilla. If you use Firefox, you need Plastikfox instead. You may download it at:

COLOR SCHEME: Plastikzilla doesn't follow the KDE color scheme. Remember it's just a theme for Mozilla (it doesn't contain any executable code), so it's impossible to do it. It's made with the 'Plastik' color scheme.

Please report bugs to 'vfernandez at polinux dot upv dot es'.

Thanks to Everaldo for his Crystal SVG icon sets. You can get them at:
http://www.everaldo.com

-----------------------
HOW TO INSTALL
-----------------------

· Extract the files anywhere you want
· Open the index.html file in Mozilla (you don't need to be 'root')
· Click the "Install" button
· Accept when it prompts for the theme installation
· Restart Mozilla
· 'View' menu - Apply theme - Plastikzilla Crystal SVG
· Restart Mozilla again
· Enjoy!

Optionally, you can also install the patch for small toolbar icons:

· Select the tab "Icon size"
· Click the button "Install patch"
· Restart Mozilla

If you want, you may delete the downloaded files once the theme is installed.

I just can't belive how well done this is! It honestly looks as if mozilla was writen using QT now. Thank you so very much.

I do prefer Firefox to Mozilla Browser, so I can't wait for the port.

I have a request as well. Would you be able to create a similar thunderbird theme? I haven't found a good theme yet, and once firefox gets the QT look, thunderbird will be that last piece. (oh wait, I forgot about eclipse and OpenOffice)

Well, the secret is that for some widgets like the buttons and combo boxes I've taken screenshots from Konqueror and other QT applications, and put them into a Mozilla theme. That's why it looks the same. For other widgets, like the input boxes, I used Mozilla's CSS extensions to implement them without needing screenshots.

Have no doubt I'll make the port for Firefox. Just give me the time to do it. Now I'm going to have dinner and later I'll start it. Maybe I have it ready sooner than you think. ;)

Oh! I forgot to talk about the Thunderbird port. I will be able to answer you better as soon as I make the Firefox port. The Thunderbird port depends on how easy is it to make the Firefox port. If it gets easier, I will have no problem to do the Thunderbird port.

 Workin' on the port

The Firefox port is getting harder to make than I thought, but anyway I'm working on it. For the anxious, you can see a screenshot of the development here:

http://www.polinux.upv.es/mozilla/plastikzilla/plastikfox-development.png

Obviously it's not usable yet, but I'm on it. ;)

I'll make the options window look like Konqueror's one. Right now it looks like normal buttons but I haven't touched it yet. That includes the icons.

I have one decision to make and I would like to know what you, people, think about it: Should I integrate the Firefox port into Plastikzilla or should I distribute it in a separate package? The benefit from the first option is having just one download for both Mozilla and Firefox but the download size may grow between 750KB and 1MB. The second option would mean smaller packages but maybe the people is looking at the Mozilla version of the skin while they don't know they have to download the Firefox version or viceversa.

separate downloads would be better IMHO. It makes it easier to manage.
