Description:

Bangarang is a media player for KDE. The name comes from the Jamaican word for noisy, chaos or disorder.

Feedback and patches are definitely welcome. Packaging contributions are also welcome. I only ask one thing: please be respectful. I do this in my spare time and, as such, I'd like to keep my motivation up.

The source code is maintained on http://gitorious.org/bangarang and anyone interested in helping is certainly welcome.

Please report bugs to http://code.google.com/p/bangarangissuetracking/issues/list

Thanks much for your help!

Then please count with me for translating Bangarang to spanish!

Also, one feature I really miss from W$ is the awesome DFX plugin for Winamp which enhances played music to an incredible level, it's pretty cool.
The only thing near to that here in GNU/Linux is the "Party" equalizer preset in Amarok 2.2 and up. You have to try what I say to note it: anything played via any player you want sounds... err... well, just ok. Play the same song with Amarok's Party enabled equalizer and it will rock! - still nowhere near what DFX for Winamp is, but still better than nothing.

So all this yadda-yadda is to let you know about this and may be you can add something similar to Bangarang which will no doubt add an extra value to your media player.

 Smart playlists, adv filtering

Custom smart playlists and advanced filtering options (by genre first, then artist, then album, etc.) would be greatly welcome.

Currently any ratings under 4 stars can't be taken advantage of.

 Lovely

Hello,

I Just wanted to say that this is a really great application. I love that it's both nice to look at and very uncluttered. Immediately it's become my default.

I would offer to help with it, but I have absolutely no knowledge of programming, so I guess I'll just cheer you on from the sidelines. I guess I can write clear how-tos and help files in English if that's any use.

Thanks for all your hard work!

That would definitely be welcome. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to help. My email address is in About dialog in the app. And, thanks so much for your support and encouragement. :-)

 FreeBSD

Since 1.0.1 builds and works straight out of the box, I banged together a FreeBSD port - if I haven't done anything horribly wrong it should show up in the ports tree soonish, and as a package whenever the build cluster gets around to it.

Discovered how to add to playlist, click on the arrow next to track in media list. However when I play track the sound is distorted too.

Little more success re garbage on pausing and playing second track. Noticed Amorok did the same. I fiddled with pulseaudio with no joy until I picked zine backend instead of gstreamer in system settings. Playing ok now with pulseaudio. However it is pretty complicated with little help from forums etc and I don't have much confidence.

Glad things are working out a bit better for you. The best way to get support when things aren't working as expected is to file a bug report. That way we can gather enough information to diagnose the problem.
