Description:

This Theme tries to fit to the new Xsplash of Karmic. It is a dark theme so dont touch this if you dont like dark themes. This theme will be too dark if you have a dark display. Its ideal for notebooks i think. I am still not finished and i need some help from you. Especially the colours need some work i think. Does it fit the wallpaper on your screen? Too dark? Too bright? Please help me with the name.

Most credits go to SamSamTS because this theme is based on his beautiful sugar-themes.

Help me find a nice name for the theme!

Changelog:

10.11.2009
- Added XFCE-Patch (Thanks a lot to AresRog!!!)

9.11.2009
- Scrollbar and tree-view changed. thanks goes to AresRog for his suggestions! Check new pic!

Thank you for this really great theme! The only thing which could be changed is the scrollbars which look to plain compared to the glossy buttons

 XFCE-Patch, scrollbar hints

 by AresRog on: Nov 9 2009

Here is a XFCE Patch (I haven't tried it, but its used in the Dust Theme, which seems to work correctly:

widget_class "*notif*" style "theme-inverted"
widget_class "*Notif*" style "theme-inverted"
widget_class "*Tray*" style "theme-inverted"
widget_class "*tray*" style "theme-inverted"
widget "*Xfce*Panel*" style "theme-inverted"
class "*Xfce*Panel*" style "theme-inverted"

Furthermore I suggest to change the following things for scrollbars:

bg[SELECTED] = shade(0.85, @selected_bg_color)

highlight_shade = 1.5

> add: lightborder_shade = 1.75

P.S. Please set the GtkRange settings in the "theme-default" configurations.

Sorry, I have forgotten something.

Please remove the effects of the toolbar and menubar.

Managing this, you have to add to the lines "GtkMenubar::shadow-type" and "GtkToolbar::shadow-type" the term " = GTK_SHADOW_NONE" instead of the number.

And you have to remove these lines:

#Toolbar
class "GtkToolbar" style "theme-toolbar"
class "GtkHandleBox" style "theme-toolbar"

Name suggestion:

"Ruby Spotlight"

But I suggest not to change the name, because "Karmic X" is very popular now ;-)

Ruby Spotlight is not bad. How about just "Ruby"? I want to change the name because karmic X sounds so exclusive for ubuntu karmic koala but i wanted to suggest the theme as community-theme for lucid lynx.

Are you serios that karmic x is popular? The ratings is going bad again. i am sure it will go under 70% now. i would be happy when a lot of people like it but most dont like dark glossy theme. the linux-community likes minimalistic themes. I used windows and that why i like themes with many effects.

anyway: thanks for your help! but one question. have you heard about the nautilus-sidebar-hack? the humanity-theme has it and with it, it is possible to make some changes to the nautilus-sidebar. i want to make it have the bg_color instead of white. only to check if it would look cool. But i wasnt able to to put in the right code. it never worked. maybe you have an idea?

In the bottom of the gtkrc of my theme "Plymouth Hemi 'CUDA" there's that patch (I took it from the NewWave Theme, but I have removed the unnecessary pixmaps)

I would like to thank you for the XFCE patch. Especially since it is gnome-look, not xfce-look (It would be nice, to see your theme there too).

Best regards

I am talking about the lines number 28, 29 and 31, which are defining the size of the Scrollbar and should be set there and not in the "theme-scrollbar" section.

Hey, you should really borrow the panel from Lithium! I think it fits in most perfectly. Check it out: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Lithium+-+GTK,+Emerald,+Metacity?content=113368

I can't wait for this connection.

Really, this theme (+SudUbuntu Icon theme) should be default in next Ubuntu Release.
