Description:

KolourPaint is an easy-to-use paint program for KDE. Features include undo/redo, more than a dozen tools, selections, transparent image editing and zoom support (with an optional grid and thumbnail).

See http://kolourpaint.sourceforge.net/ for more information.

Changelog:

KolourPaint 1.2.2 Released (2004/12/12)

KolourPaint 1.2.2 fixes several longstanding bugs, improves performance and for the first time in history, includes translations to 32 languages.

Bugs fixed include:

* incorrect scaling/zooming under Qt 3.0
* missing icons in some GNU/Linux distributions
* copying selections with the CTRL key not working

This is a backport of KDE 3.3.2's KolourPaint to KDE 3.0.

 Promising

Just compiled it and tried it out.
It is the first useful paint app
for KDE! The only thing I'm
missing to do some small web
images (buttons, logos) with it
is the missing grid on zoom.
Otherwise the basic functionality
is there. Sure we all want MORE
don't we? But fact is: It's there
and we can complain about it -
wonderful! For everyone who doesn't
need gimps fancy stuff but wants
to edit some images without
having 1000s of windows on his
desktop this is finally a solution.

The grid is there but it's only available (View/Show Grid) at zoom levels >= 600% (and divisble by 100%).

This is the greatest paint software for KDE.Even though it stills need some for utilities and abilities.I really think you should add GIMP stuff like Crop Images and the intelligent scissor and a couple of more stuff. But id give a 90% to this software.I really think u shoudl add the stuff I just said so I wont have to use GIMP anymore and I will have my independent KDE. :-)

If you make a selection, KolourPaint has "Image/Crop Outside the Selection". And for those of us who are just too lazy, there's even "Image/Autocrop"!

I'll take a look at GIMP. But in the mean time you can try out features exclusive to KolourPaint such as the Colour Eraser and Colour Similarity :)

finally, a real graphics editing/drawing program for kde (and NOT just another of the zillion image viewers)!
This is by far the best kde-graphics app I know of.
at this stage, I'm already able to do most of my graphics editing for the web
with kolourpaint, thus reducing the need for gimp substantially
(what about rename it to 'kimp' ;-)

This program MUST replace the KPaint in the kde-graphics!

KPaint -- suxx!
KolourPaint -- rules! the best Paintbrush-analog for linux yet.

exactly what I was waiting for ...
MSpaint was the only software I was missing under linux :0)

Hope it will soon replace Kpaint that has never been really usable but trying to satisfy boldly a real need.

many thanks

It looks like you're using KolourPaint 1.0 which only works with KDE 3.2.

Use KolourPaint 1.0.1 instead (which is the same but works with all KDE 3.x). Or use KDE 3.2 :)
