 not saving

by janet on: Oct 20 2010

Score 50%

It scans - but I cannot find any option to save the scanned picture. Looks as if scangui from kipi-plugins nearly is the same gui (successor?) and scangui automatically opens the save dialog after scanning. Is this still maintained or a dead end?

Did you sort this out?

I assume you are using the 'Scan' option from the main window and not the one for 'Preview'?

Select 'Scan' and once the scan has completed a second window should appear which allows you to save the scanned image. Perhaps it is appearing in the background?

I first use Preview and then Scan. After the final scan has finished no extra window pops up, no hidden window behind others. I also tried maximising the window in hope there's a hidden button. But nothing.

 change save behaviour

by janet on: Nov 11 2010

Score 50%

Oh boy, I just discovered it auto-saves into my home without asking. How impolite. And IMHO not very intuitive.

Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE default to the setting to *show* the save dialog?

Or can you make that option more present and obvious to the user as some ever-present box to tick in the main window? That would also make it easier to switch that behaviour when scanning a bunch of whatsoever.

Janet,

This is one of the settings you can save.

Have a look at the settings screen, the 'Save mode' option allows you to control how the program saves files.

Interestingly on my system the default is to 'open the save dialogue for every image'.

Previewing and manually specifying the filename is the default. I wonder how you got anything else... Have you upgraded from an earlier version? There was a change in the saving between 0.3 and 0.4...

Yes, some time ago I had used an earlier version, then deinstalled it and now gave it another try. Neither in the old nor in this version I had changed anything in the settings.

 More default settings

It would be useful if skanlite could remember the previous settings. For example every time I start the program I have to change the scan mode and scan resolution.

I second that wish! At least make it optional to remember the settings or not.

 window & preview too small

by janet on: Nov 11 2010

Score 50%

Skanlite does not remember the window size, it always defaults to some tiny window with some tiny preview.

I can force the window to start in bigger size but it still does not change its preview size to fill the view area.

Is there a hidden setting for this?

This last release (0.5) adds the saving of the window size but unfortunately only when the the window manager control is used.

 install error

by janet on: Nov 20 2010

Score 50%

cmake ok, make ok, but checkinstall's last message is:
[...]
-- Installing: /usr/share/doc/kde/HTML/en/skanlite/index.docbook
CMake Error at doc/cmake_install.cmake:36 (FILE):
file INSTALL cannot find "/home/me/skanlite-0.5/doc/final-button.png".
Call Stack (most recent call first):
cmake_install.cmake:59 (INCLUDE)

make: *** [install] Fehler 1

Installation then is aborted. But the picture is there. So what might be the real error?

Sorry for not testing the 0.5 and 0.6 releases enough.

I hope this last release is in better shape :)
