Description:

A configurable script that fetch lyrics from various sites.

  • Features:
    - Multiple site search (reload button can change site source)
    - Google search suggestions
    - Sites arranged by priority
    - Adequate charset support
    - Automatic (omitting track numbers, bracket, parenthesis, feat) and manual adjustment for artist and song name
    - Localizable GUI settings (cache, display mode, sites...)
    - Display modes: rich text, plain text
    - File cache (with expire period)

  • Supported web servers:
    wikia.com, lyricsplugin.com, lyricstime.com, lyricsreg.com, metrolyrics.com, seeklyrics.com, azlyrics.com, jamendo.com, darklyrics.com, mp3lyrics.org, songlyrics.com, elyrics.net, lyricsdownload.com, lyrics.com, lyriki.com, lyricsmode.com, lyricsbay.com, loudson.gs, lyricsfreak.com, sing365.com, allreggaelyrics.com, stixoi.info, teksty.org, tekstowo.pl, vagalume.uol.com.br, google.com

  • Translated into:
    - Czech
    - English
    - French (needs updating)
    - German
    - Italian
    - Lithuanian (needs updating)
    - Portuguese
    - Russian
    - Serbian
    - Spanish
If you want to help translating the script in your language or update an existent translation follow the instructions from README inside script directory.
Note that comment from script.spec is also translatable.

  • Notice:
    - It's suggested to turn off other lyric scripts like default LyricWiki.
    - Some ideas (codes) are taken from Glyrics, LyricWiki, Lyrix and Wiki-Lyrics.
    - Serially web sites change themselves, which can cause the script stops working for the site. Script adaptations are required when a site changes its "template".
    - Script can automatically (without google support) search only sites which URL can be constructed solely by artist and title.
    - The script is usually installed in ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/scripts/ultimate_lyrics/ or in ~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok/scripts/ultimate_lyrics/
    - It's possible to disable loading of Ultimate Lyrics in ~/.kde/share/config/amarokrc or by removing Ultimate Lyrics installation folder
    - Defaults settings can be changed in main.js when GUI settings doesn't work.
    - The script is not automatically updatable. Occasionally you have to update the script manually from Tools->Script Manager->Get More Scripts->Update

  • To do:
    nothing planned

  • Known issues:
    - The script uses system language settings (chosen by GDM) instead of kde regional settings (can be altered in main.js).
    - The script should work properly with Qt framework 4.5.x or 4.6.x, but may have problems (like missing GUI settings) with an older version.

I don't know if it's a glitch with your script or amarok, but it need fixing.

It seems the script has problems with fetching lyrics that contain an "&". Two examples are: "Angels & Airwaves - The War" or "Metallica - Broken, Beat & Scarred"

    http://lyrics.wikia.com/Metallica:Broken,_Beat_&_Scarred

It doesn't matter if I tick replace "&" with "and".

First I think you forgot to bump the version number in script.spec, it's still 1.8.

Other than that it sits there forever spinning "Lyrics are being fetched.". For testing purpose I set the sites to only lyrics.wikia.com.

Something else I noticed: Manually replacing the "&" with "and" in the artist tag of the song ("Angels & Airwaves" - "Distraction") makes it work. Shouldn't however the corresponding configuration setting have the same effect?

     javascript trouble!

    Score 50%

When using amarok 2.2.0 (KDE 4.3.2) with qt library 4.6.0-beta1, I encountered a weird problem with Ultimate Lyrics 1.81: a javascript error kept the script fetching the lyrics.

Error is: amarok: SCRIPT "Ultimate Lyrics" : "SiteManager.processReply: (lyrics.wikia.com)TypeError: Result of expression 'st.match(arguments.callee.expr)' [null] is not an object."

With some debugging, I solved the issue by replacing in file string.js, function "String.prototype.fillParams = function(params)" the test at line 211:
    while(st.match(arguments.callee.expr).length>0)
    by:
    while( !(st.match(arguments.callee.expr) == null ) )

    and everything works fine now.

PS: and thanks for your bright work :-)

Reason why amarok crashed in your system is a broken qtscriptbindings package. The log is saying that amarok crashed while loading a qtscriptbinding library.
The bug should be reported to distro maintainers. This is actually the most common reason for crashing amarok caused by a script.

And because UltimateLyrics is the only script that crashes A2, I assume its the script.

in main.js amarok doesn't crash anymore.

     XML garbage from lyricwiki?

Seems every time I see Lyrics from lyricwiki there's always a bunch of XML garbage in it and I have to manually reload the lyrics.

Is there a way to fix this, or entirely DISABLE lyricwiki? I actually removed it from the file and moved the javascript from the scripts folder and it still downloads lyrics + XML garbage all of the time.

Ultimate Lyrics is great and works really well but half of the time I have to manually refresh to get sane lyric text.

Disabling a running script is very easy from Tools->Script Manager. Amarok caches lyrics for each song in its internal mysql database, and that is the reason why use still see old lyrics fetched with LyricWiki. You can manually clear the cache if you delete database folder ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok/mysqle. Be aware that amarok keeps other informations (like local collection, ratings...) in the database and that deleting the folder would "reset" the player.
