to activate it type in terminal

gconftool-2 \
--set "/apps/gnome-screensaver/lock_dialog_theme" \
--type string "elementary"

or open Configuration editor and under apps-->gnome-screensaver-->lock_dialog_theme replace the string default with elementary. to remove it replace the string elementary with default.

For some reason it's not working for me (might be a PEBKAC problem).

I see it was uploaded on July 1st last year, back in the Jaunty days so it might have something to do with Karmic. Any ideas?

Tried both the tar.gz and .deb btw.

I don't know, but it's working here and i'm with karmic and lucid as testing, and working on both. Maybe it's sth with yours system.

Linux is so simple operation system, but you must be a genius to understand its simplicity.

Okay I figured it out... sort of.

At first the only change after changing from default to elementary was that the "Leave message" button disappeared from the lock dialog and it became a little smaller but still used the GTK theme.

After searching in ubuntuforums, bugzilla and launchpad it seems that something changed in Karmic and now it uses .ui instead of .glade files which are a little different (renaming the .glade to .ui just to test got the theme working but it's buggy).

I'm going to convert it and see what happens. In the meantime - are you using any ppas that might have reverted to the old lock dialog or something? If not how did you get it to work in Karmic/Lucid? (I tried on my Lucid install and another fresh Karmic with no luck).

Hi,
For the theme to work in recent ubuntu release 10.04+, you need to convert the .glade to a .ui.

To do so open a terminal and type
sudo get-builder-convert -w lock-dialog-THEME_NAME.glade lock-dialog-THEME_NAME.ui

There you have it, rejoice!
