Description:

UPDATE New version is currently underway. I so far have better tablet detection, the new features of xsetwacom implemented, Intuos4 OLEDs working with both images, text and animations and application profiles that automatically switch the button configuration. Please hang in there everyone, I know the current version up here sucks and this overhaul is long overdue. Check back in a month or two.

THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH UBUNTU 11.04
I will fix the compatibility issues when I have the time to do so.

You can now easily configure a wacom tablet on linux!
This utility allows you to:
- Automatically detect and configure a wide range of wacom products
- Set custom key commands or mouse buttons to a tablet's shortcut buttons
- Set custom pressure curve on each of the tablet's input devices
- Automatically remembers and reapplies settings on startup
- At present, serial and bluetooth tablets are not yet supported. If it doesn't work for you, submit a comment on here so I can fix it.
- More features coming!

HOW TO INSTALL:
======================
Add the PPA to get the latest updates automatically!
Quote:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hughescih/ppa && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install wacom-utility

HOW TO USE PRESSURE SUPPORT IN GIMP:
====================================
1. Open GIMP
2. In the Edit menu, click on preferences
3. Click on Input Devices
4. Click on Configure Extended Input Devices
5. For the devices; stylus, eraser and cursor, set the Mode to 'Screen'
6. Click Save, then Ok and you're done!

 No support for Intuous4 small?

 by ptrcao on: Sep 17 2010

As a matter of fact express keys cannot be set at all for intuos4 small!

Once I specify the keystroke and close the box, your utility does not remember what I told it. When I return to the key input screen, nothing is there. The key defaults to "ignore".

the utility is unresponsive.

help?

 Where's the source?

I know you said you posted "many times" where to get it, but I see only an empty repository on sourceforge. And an empty tarball available for download, too.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/wacom-utility/develop

This is really an open-source project right? I'm interested in seeing how well this works and maybe working on the real actual Gnome control panel for tablets, if there aren't too many fingers in the pie already... because there _still_ after all these years is not a tablet control panel which can actually be found on typical distros by default. Maybe by adding some features yours could become that control panel? But not if you don't release the code.

Yes, it's opensource. Here is the last version: https://launchpad.net/~hughescih/+archive/ppa/+files/wacom-utility_1.18-2.tar.gz

You can find more at https://launchpad.net/~hughescih/+archive/ppa/+packages

hi, i also made you a picture that shows you which numbers are mapped to which buttons... http://www.3demo.info/tmp/cintiqButtons.svg (its a svg file and you can reuse it, if its any good for you)
i cant find the upper 4 buttons. i also did not find a command that just lists which buttons are available. right now i found out the assignings with
xsetwacom set "Wacom Cintiq 20WSX pad" Button9 "core key shift"
xsetwacom set "Wacom Cintiq 20WSX pad" Button10 "key Down"

i tried then new version and i get the panel to assign the buttons, but they dont stay.
maybe you could ad abox where one could fill in the coordinates for calibration? right now i use those commands
xsetwacom set "Wacom Cintiq 20WSX" topx "1000"
xsetwacom set "Wacom Cintiq 20WSX" topy "225"
xsetwacom set "Wacom Cintiq 20WSX" bottomx "87000"
xsetwacom set "Wacom Cintiq 20WSX" bottomy "54500"

thanks again for your efforts! greetings, phil

 Wacom Graphire4 4x5 (small)

 by apoage on: Sep 20 2010

first of all thanks for this app

will be possible to include buttons support for Wacom Graphire4 4x5 see no buttons/preview in pad area . it is sad but nothing to horrible for me .. while i try to push some tablet button an cursor shows in left top corner of screen(no idea why)

and cant set device mode nowhere device mode is on all setup pages blank(but default absolute mode is fine)

worse thing is multi screen setup(twinwiev) i still need sometimes to switch between active(in sense of xsetwacom --set "Wacom Graphire4 4x5" Screen_No "1") screens or use thinks like this
xsetwacom --set "Wacom Graphire4 4x5" TwinView "Horizontal"
also sometimes is necessary to setup for different screen resolutions means like
TVresolution option these are thinks which should be helpful for multi screens stations..

any way tool is great ... keep it up ..

PS: sorry for my English it is not my native language
