Description:

UPDATE New version is currently underway. I so far have better tablet detection, the new features of xsetwacom implemented, Intuos4 OLEDs working with both images, text and animations and application profiles that automatically switch the button configuration. Please hang in there everyone, I know the current version up here sucks and this overhaul is long overdue. Check back in a month or two.

THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH UBUNTU 11.04
I will fix the compatibility issues when I have the time to do so.

You can now easily configure a wacom tablet on linux!
This utility allows you to:
- Automatically detect and configure a wide range of wacom products
- Set custom key commands or mouse buttons to a tablet's shortcut buttons
- Set custom pressure curve on each of the tablet's input devices
- Automatically remembers and reapplies settings on startup
- At present, serial and bluetooth tablets are not yet supported. If it doesn't work for you, submit a comment on here so I can fix it.
- More features coming!

HOW TO INSTALL:
======================
Add the PPA to get the latest updates automatically!
Quote:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hughescih/ppa && sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install wacom-utility

HOW TO USE PRESSURE SUPPORT IN GIMP:
====================================
1. Open GIMP
2. In the Edit menu, click on preferences
3. Click on Input Devices
4. Click on Configure Extended Input Devices
5. For the devices; stylus, eraser and cursor, set the Mode to 'Screen'
6. Click Save, then Ok and you're done!

 Cannot save modifications!

I'm a bit puzzled: I'm trying to configure my Bamboo Touch & Pen (CTH-460) but there seems to be no "Save" option after having modified the configuration.
The only button available is "Close" (I see it as "Fermer" in French).

Am I missing something?

I'm having the same problem, I don't really understand what to do to actually save the settings...
Also, I'm wondering about two things: are combinations of strings available, like ctrl+z; and will there ever be an option to change the two buttons on the stylus itself?

Thanks in advance for any reply!

Hi!

Thanks for your app, this is really useful!

Could you share your code via distributed version control (I prefer GIT on Gitorious or GitHub)?

I'd like to submit some patches!

I will get to this as soon as I can. I'm swamped with work right now. If you email me the patches directly, I can publish a new deb package here much quicker.
Thanks!

 wacom does't detect pressure

wacom intuos 3 6X8 in ubuntu 10.04 x64.

Hi there,
First at all, thanks a lot for this tool, it's very nice an useful.

I have problems getting my wacom working properly with software that should recognize the pen pressure. I was very happy to discover this tool, and I was hopping it can deal with my problem. It bring some light about what's going on, but it doesn't work properly.

When I open the tool, it shows properly information about my wacon. However, the "Device Mode" never show any information, neither I'm able to use it (doesn't allow me to selec or change anything).

Also the "Wacom Intuos3 6X8 cursor" option doesn't detect the pressure ( I believe this is my problem), when the other options ( "Wacom Intuos3 6X8 eraser" and "Wacom Intuos3 6X8") works perfectly fine detecting it and in the drawing test area.

I'm not very good with linux, so when I read that some people was having problemas with the configuration and the default configuration should be solving the problem, I just uninstalled all drivers an made a fresh installation. Unfortunately nothing changed.

I will really appreciate is anybody can help me with this, as I really need to use properly the program Mari ( from The Foundry) before I start in my next job.

Many thanks

davegh

How long have we got to wait for ubuntu 10.10 version?

I tried to install present one - it shows error "unstatisfied dependings with python-gnome2-desktop"

Your tool is so awesome, so I think it has to be in default ubuntu installation
