Updated:  Nov 7 2010

Description:

My first stab at Linux GUI, another Leopard emulation version...

2 styles:
-Unified caption
-\'Single\' caption

* metacity themes foe each sub-style

Initially used Leopardish as platform, gradually evolving into something else.

Elements/Images are my own (except maybe some small arrows here and there...)
Icons in theme Icons folder are mac$lin's except up arrow. (hope they won't mind, I can make them if they insist...)

By the way, to have opacity for panel and menus using Compiz...
CompizConfig Settings Manager > Opacity, Brightness, Saturation (under Accessibility) > Opacity Tab > NEW button >
write/create the following items, and opacity for each, your choice:

dock
dropdownmenu
popupmenu

===============================
TO REMOVE ICONS IN BUTTONS OF GNOME 2.26+:
- Press Alt + F2
- Type- gconf-editor and hit Enter.
- Go to Desktop –> GNOME –> Interface
- Uncheck the key- buttons_have_icons
===============================

 Panel

Nice theme. But please remove the fixed panel font and size. On a netbook it looks ugly and a little bit to big.

You can always edit the theme to your preference mate. As for the theme itself, I'd prefer not to...

Just remove any font settings in panel.rc and gtkrc using text editor. Search for: Lucida

Cheers.

Don't like clones, but controls you've made are very good. Although gnome-panel is corrupted.

Hmm, works for me. I am running Global Menu + Main Menu...

Using panel applets with expansion handles (e.g. notification area applet), you'll see a vertical black bar. You can make it transparent by editing the image in Handles folder. Still haven;t found a way around this...

Sorry to disappoint you mate. I never pretended to be a pro, or my output to be one. I am new to Linux and I still don't know my way around, Although I do know its limitations in terms of GUI, so you really can not have a 'perfect' emulation.

Regarding the panel, i somehow missed some lines in gtkrc or panel.rc. Fixed now, so users can just set gnome panel background to inherit system image.

Regarding tabs, also fixed the image - increased space between text and side borders, and removed tab overlapping.

Both fixes in next update (few days, still trying to refine some issues)

Popup menu? not a big issue, I may or may not change it..

How about you, you have been here since February, yet have no output yet. Or are you just one of these trolls mucking around the net, doing nothing except troll?

By the why don't you edit this theme and release your version? unless you're already on a mac...

I was quite keen to blog about this theme - it's certainly the most mac like theme on here - however your condescending and negative attitude to people's criticisms of your work put me off.

As for telling someone they shouldn't criticise unless they've also got output, well a) people come here to find themes not just upload them, and b) why share it if you don't think it can be improved. The points raised by others were valid and you'd do better to look at some of the more popular themes and how the creators seek out criticism and bug reports to make it better.

What an ego...

come on mate, you're making something out of nothing.

the comment was blunt and straight to the point, which i appreciate actually. my response was the same (I'm not much into social networking like facebook or friendster...) I also didn't intend to sound condescending, but my points are valid. There are lots of trolls out there (and/or self-appointed critics), in all kinds of forums/fora. As a blogger, surely you know what I mean.

Regarding criticisms, hey, that's the only way one can improve one's output. You do have to consider where they are coming from. I may not always say 'thank you this, your welcome that', but if I considered and/or implemented a certain suggestion, well...

Good day mate..and cheers!

1. Have global menu ( is that the right word for it) for applications.. like File Edit View ..all those on the panel instead of each appln... how should i enable that ???
2. Panel looks half grey and half black .. how do i correct tat ?
3. folder Icons are not looking like Mac .. they loook grey.. ??

Except the above three.. all the controls are just like MacOS.. i love it. i hope somebody would help me on the above probs..

Global Menu, you have to install.
http://code.google.com/p/gnome2-globalmenu/

Check out this tutorial mate (if you still havent yet). It is a step by step guide for mac4lin...2008, but ,you can adapt to latest releases. http://www.howtoforge.com/mac4lin_make_linux_look_like_a_mac

Regarding color issues, probably your system settings/video card maybe? or drivers? Try other themes and see...

In addition:

Folder icons I edited -replaced them in /home/<username>/.icons/Mac4Lin_Icons_v1.0_RC/scalable/places

Same thing with the "apple" image in the above location (replaced all the "footprint" images)

Currently, as it stands...

http://www.kwikpiks.com/files/32/twf%20gtk%20leopard.png

black parch in top left is vertical handle, which i use as window side panel border (1 pixel). I have no answer for this yet.

The rest i think can be fixed side tabs etc).
Progress bars, will try to play around with the thickness...
