KDE Service Menu

Submitted:  Mar 29 2009
Updated:  Dec 29 2010

Description:

This service menu copys the path of a file to klipper by using qdbus.

I've always missed that simple function. Seems helpful to me when working with markup-languages such as latex or html where you need to specify the path of an image.

It can also attach a file to kmail. I know there are better menus for that already but I never had one installed...

User installation:
Copy the .desktop file to
$HOME/.kde4/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus
Thanks for the hint in the comments.
(thats the path on my OpenSuSE box)

Systemwide installation:
In order to install it systemwide, you will need to copy the .desktop file into
"/usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus"
You have to be root to do that.

Changelog:

Ver. 0.1.1 -- Added the french translation given in the comments. - Thanks for translating!

Ver. 0.1.2 -- Added the spanish translation by manutortosa. - Thanks for translating!

Ver. 0.1.3 -- Added the Greek and Swedish translations. Thanks for translating!

Honestly, this feature should be part of Vanilla KDE 4 - so thank you for this vital feature!

 Nice, but already done?

Hi,nice job with the service menu, but in kde already if you simply copy a file, and then press paste in any text editor, the file path and name is pasted in. Is that what you meant?

Hehe
actually I did not know that so it sort of is what i wanted.

Luckily for me it was not much work writing this menu ;-)

Also, one advantage of this copy_path menu remains:
It does not add "file:// " to the filename.

Very nice and helpful menu ;-)

But I copy the file to:
`kde4-config -localprefix`/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/

Additionally I made some changes:
X-KDE-Submenu=Copy or Email Path
X-KDE-Submenu[de]=Pfad kopieren oder senden
X-KDE-Submenu[fr]=Copie ou Email de chemin
I hope french is not false ;-) so I don't speak it ;-)
