Description:

!!!!Mashup!!!

This is just something that I would find very usefull, but without codingskills wont be able to do myself. So devs look here.

The concept of stacks in osX:s dock is quite wellknown and will not need further presentation. In gnome we\'ve got drawer-panels and stacks in awn. But what I miss is a stacks-area in nautilus. A place where you can drag files along the day and later mail them, burn them to a cd, package them or play them at a party.

So check the screenshots to get a better understanding of what I\'m meaning. I think it would be doable under gtk. Combined with drag and drop between stacks and other applications, firefox addons and addons to gnome-do this could be quite usable I think.

What I didn\'t create an image of was the view of the stacks\' contents. By pressing a stack the content would be shown in Nautilus main window, where you easily could delete or open files...

But do any of you people fancy this, or is it just my vivid mind that craves this?

 Good Idea

It would be even better if you could view the files in a tray that expanded (vertically and horizontally) out of the nautilus window instead of viewing the files in the current nautilus window. This feature would also have to be integrated into the desktop. The stacks would be a bar of icons on the desktop that would behave and look the same as the one in the browser window.

Thank you for your response.

I agree with you to some extent. It would be a very good option. Since users want different solutions it would be good if they could choose behaviour in nautilus settings.

I think this is cool. Therefore I opened a new bug @ the GNOME Bugzilla:

In the world without walls and fences, who need Windows and Gates?
