 gnome-conf key

by Kaarsty on: Jan 29 2008

Score 50%

I extracted the contents to this location, but when I went to edit this configuration the key did not exist. So I created a key of 'string' type and entered the name of the dialog but it does not take this. What do I need to do?

I love this dialog, but can't seem to get it to work.

I isn't a file. You should run gconf-editor (Press Alt+F2 and type gconf-editor) and there you can find this option

 Option Greyed Out

by alinon on: Feb 13 2008

Score 50%

When I pull up the key lock_dialog_theme it either says "this key is not writable" or the option to change the "name" and "type" are greyed out.

Note: I've tried using terminal and typing sudo gconf-editor

And I've also tried hitting alt-F2 and typing gconf-editor. Either way there is no option to change this key for me.

Any thoughts?

1.Go to terminal and type gksudo gconf-editor.
2.In gconf-editor Go to file,New Defaults Window and go in that window to apps, gnome screensaver and remove the key "lock_dialog_theme"
3. Go to file,New Mandatory Window and go in that window to /,apps,gnome screensaver and remove the key "lock_dialog_theme"
4.Go to file,New Settings Window and go in that window to /,apps,gnome screensaver and the key "lock_dialog_theme" is writable.

If that is not:
1 Restart gconf-editor
2 Repeat all steps and by step 3 go too to /,apps,gconf-editor and remove the key "recents"

Succes

when it says to put the contents into /usr/share/gnome-screensaver, it means that you must put the contents of the directory inside the archive into /usr/share/gnome-screensaver. then the gconf-edit will work.
