HOW TO: Install on Ubuntu 8.10

Hi!
As you might have noticed, this theme does not work on Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex). Here is how you install it:
Ensure that you have the following packages installed (from synaptic):

build-essential
libusplash-dev
checkinstall

Then download the source of this theme. Extract and using the terminal browse to the folder in which you have extracted. Then type the following in:
$make
$sudo checkinstall

You will be prompted to change properties of the package. Change the version number to any number (7.09 for example). Let the installation finish.

Then in the terminal do:
$sudo update-usplash-theme chrometext-theme

It may take a few minutes, but you may now reboot and watch Chrometext's beauty!

If you get a terminal type bootsplash, instead of a graphical splash, try typing this into the terminal:

$sudo dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-`uname -r`

This should make it work. If, for whatever reason, it does not and you want to revert to the default, here is the command:
$sudo update-usplash-theme usplash-theme-ubuntu

(Because you have used checkinstall, you can uninstall chrome (or whatever you named the package) from Synaptic Package Manager whenever you want, but don't forget to update usplash back to the original theme!
