eric works on Linux, Windows (7 up to 8.1) and Mac OS X. For Windows it is recommended to get the PyQt4 installer. eric5 can be used with Qt4 and Qt5.

do I have to install SIP seperately?

Hi,
Do I have to install SIP separately if I want to install and use eric 5? 'Cause the problem I'm facing is, I downloaded below QT version:
Qt 5.3.0 for Windows 64-bit (VS 2013, OpenGL, 636 MB) (Info)

And installed Microsoft visual C++ 2013, because that's the compiler which is supposed to match qt 5.3.0 image,

but it looks like SIP from river bank computing doesn't support win64 system install so I can't install SIP on my win7 system. Any idea how we can solve this problem? I really want to use Eric so really want to find a solution.. Thank you very much! Below is the error message I got when I was trying to install sip:

C:\software\sip-4.16.1\sip-4.16.1>python configure.py -platform win64-msvc2013
This is SIP 4.16.1 for Python 3.4.1 on win32.
Error: Unsupported macro name specified. Use the --show-build-macros flag to
see a list of supported macros.

The easiest way to use PyQt is to install it via the installer provided by Riverbank. If you want to compile it yourself and are facing issues please search help via the PyQt mailing list.
