Description:

Shotwell is a new digital photo organizer for the GNOME desktop. Shotwell imports photos from digital cameras and automatically organizes them into events based on the time they were taken. Shotwell includes a non-destructive photo editor, allowing you to crop, rotate, and adjust the color and contrast of any photo instantly. Auto-enhance can improve a photo with a single click. Edited photos may be exported in any size, including to Facebook and Flickr.

 Great start, keep it up

Hi,
Gnome is crying out for a product straightforward as eog, but more fuctional without using all of gimp. I really like what you've done. I have some suggestions of where you might want to take this.

a) Allow new events to be added (ie. On my Daughters birthday, I can create 2 events 1 of her dressed up, and another of her party etc)

b) Allow file imports from network shares

c) Allow photos to have their own tags

d) Interactions with flikr, picassa etc

e) Use a full web/browser front end

This is a wish list but I hope it gives some ideas. I'm not a coder, but I can help with a wiki or help docs if you need it.

Regards,

Thanks for these suggestions! We're working hard to keep adding features to Shotwell. If you want to visit our Wiki, check it out at:

 Limited RAW support

Disappointingly, the version included with Ubuntu 10.10 doesn't seem to support CR2 Raw images from a Canon EOS 550D.

This might be too much to ask if this program wanted to position itself as a simple photo viewer, but a "digital photo organizer" could use a slightly better raw support.
