i see the kickoff menu in the screenshot with the suse icon. what is this for a post? any source code, another icon with instructions for how to install, or a random thought (hint: keep those for a blog or something...)

Duh!

I'm talking about the first "star" icon in the menu, thats the Mandriva logo.

That's not the mandriva logo!
That's the "Favourites" or the "Bookmarks" icon in kde's crystalsvg icon theme. Check it out on konqueror. Press the bookmarks button and see it for yourself.


Saying that your operating system is the best because more people use it is

I don't agree the kickoff concept. It's take so much space with tabs at bottom and you need to click on it, search for an app or scroll down to find icon you need. The Mouseover, OnFocus and OnBlur events can be a good way to improve the menus usability. Sorry.

kickoff is def. not the best for older computers, but on my new-ish computer, it's great.
