Description:

Fotoxx is a free open source Linux program for photo editing and collection management. The goal is to meet most user needs while remaining fast and easy to use. Navigate a large image collection with a thumbnail browser. Import camera RAW files and edit with 16-bit color. Save edited images as TIFF-8/16, PNG, or JPEG with adjustable compression. Edit the whole image or a selected area, with adjustable edge-blending. Edit functions have live feedback using the whole window. Multiple undo/redo. Add tags, dates, and star-ratings to images. Search images using these criteria or (wildcard) file names.

Edit functions include:
+ Brightness and color adjustments using movable curves
+ Flatten brightness distribution (frequent quick fix)
+ Sharpen, Blur, Noise reduction, Red-eye removal
+ Trim, Rescale, Rotate any angle, Flip horizontal/vertical
+ Tone mapping (enhance detail at all brightness levels)
+ Vary brightness over image (e.g. fix vignetting)
+ Panorama / HDR / HDF composites with auto alignment
+ Warp (stretch/distort) image by dragging the mouse
+ Artful transforms (simulate drawing, painting, embossing)
+ Pixel edit with variable brush and blending

To get a clearer picture, visit the fotoxx gallery using the \"screenshots\" link above.

Utility functions include:
+ Batch rename using a base name and sequence number
+ Select image area/object for editing or copy/paste
+ Tag (keyword) editing and searching
+ Slide-show mode
+ Batch convert multiple RAW files to TIFF-16
+ Select images from the navigator and burn a CD or DVD
+ View or modify EXIF data (technical data from camera)
+ Monitor color check
+ Brightness distribution graph with live display
+ Print image using standard formats or custom dimensions
+ Context dependent help (F1 key)
+ Comprehensive user guide (English)

Hardware: Fotoxx works best on a fast computer with at least a gigabyte of memory. Multiple processor cores are utilized. Netbooks work adequately, but some functions will be slow and a 1024x600 screen is confining.
