Description:

A graphical front end on /bin/sh for people who a visually minded. Currently in a proof of concept phase.

THIS PROJECT NEEDS YOU!!!
If you download this program please give some feed back on how you find the VisualShell so far. All comments are appreciated no matter how small or how convoluted.

If you want to start doing some simple work for this project try creating some command profiles. The combuilder and catbuilder applications can be used to help create command profiles and organise them into categories but they are buggy. See more details at http://visualshell.sourceforge.net/structure.php

Also I could do with some help coding the programs in this package and identifying bugs. Send me a message either by open-desktop or email me at ryan.mccoskrie@gmail.com

Right. I've been a bit side tracked by making a more powerful replacement to the commbuilder script. But I have made a desktop file, some standard commands, and hand edited the main CMakeLists.txt to your specification.

I'm not sure about the text rendering problem that you have though. It might have something to do with changing languages.

BTW, can I use the icon you made? Once I have your yes or no I'll try to get it all uploaded to here, SourceForge, GitHub and FreashMeat tidily.

Well personally I don't need it but I have noted that Windows users (and probably a silent but large number of Linux users), are usually not just fearful of the command line but the whole concept of having to use their right brain. Hopefully this should make things easier for them.

 DirWork?

Is this an application in the vein of DirWork / Directory Opus from the Amiga? (or the linux clone "worker") Programmable buttons to accomplish command line tasks.

If so then it is handy for tjose that are not fluent typists.

Looks interesting

I've only been using computers for about five years. Amiga is like Camelot to me.

Sorry, time is getting away on me. I've been using them since the December of 2003; a couple of months before I turned 13.

I made an Icon with Illustrator, do you want to use it with VisualShell? I could improve it according to your wishes ;)

Drat! Your icon is so good and I only just added one into the project! I might let users vote once I have got to a good place in terms of code.

Making an icon is exactly the sort of thing that I am really poor at. I have a problem called Non-Verbal Learning Disorder (NLD) which basically means that I think almost purely with the language part of my brain. Visual thinking is a particular weak point for me since it's on the opposite part of the brain.
