Description:

Pretty self-explanatory, really. Quickie GIMPed up screenshot, it could look different in the actual implementation. Also, the colors could be themeable.

It could be triggered by a key combo. Or, you could hover over a taskbar entry to show a link to a single window, or even vice-versa.

Don't bother downloading the file, it's the exact same as the screenshot.

 Too noisy

For my taste, this would be too noisy. Also, it may not work well with lots of windows open.

However, I want to congratulate you for such a fresh and original idea!.

 not ToPaZ but compiz-fusion

I think it's a quite good idea, It can be very usefull to make it appear when the mouse is over one representation of a window in the task bar (sorry I don't know the word for this).
Maybe this shouldn't be added to ToPaZ but to compiz-fusion. (I think it should be in the same category than window preview.)

Yeah, I'd thought of the possibility of "scrubbing" the taskbar as well.

When I get some time, I could do a more-detailed, possibly animated mockup.

i like the idea.
imagine a plant branches theme with windows as leafs.
or those links as chinese art that is drawn smoothly from bottom (taskbar) to top (window) when mouse hover taskbar entry.
unfortunately, i will not use it because i like maximized windows, but i love beauty, and i know many users use windows unmaximized, that should give them excitement at first, and comfort in everyday use.
