Description:

Another plasma theme for the cloudcity. This is an idea i had for some kind of tab-like behavior in the panel and i\'m quite happy with the result.
Based on the great Aya plasma theme, Clock borrowed from TheRob\'s Tibanna theme (and the original concept, thanks to Thomas Lubking). Also, the tasks were modded originally from Mist for MID.
Any requests or bugs, feel free to report them here.

Thanks to the original artists, and hope you enjoy it as i do.

Desktop Details:

-Bespin style
-Bespin Windeco
-Bespin (nmfnms) iconset.
-Wallpaper... err... dunno. If you really want it i can track it.

Cheers!

Interesting idea with the "tabbed" tasks, I've pondered this myself. Not sure I like the way it "cuts off" icons though.

In any case, I enjoy this theme.

Well, it does "cut" the icons, but i kinda like it, At least on my icontheme looks like the icons are "sitting" in the strip. And yes, the icontheme can be downloaded from the bespin svn. Keep in mind it is under heavy development!

Bonus points if you recommend a cool name for the icontheme.

Kind Regards,
David

Call it Glyph.

Also please make an icon for quassel (irc client), if you get the time.

Try out the plasma theme now/

Looks good but I personally think that the strip at the bottom should be made a bit thinner.

I think your'e right. I'l try to make it thinner, but don't expect it to be done byy today or tomorrow (because making the background and the foreground match in this cases is hard :P)

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

I'm really happy you got it to behave exactly how you wanted. If you want, i can upload it here as an "Slim" or "compact" version, but for myself, i like a thicker strip. Or if you want, to upload it yourself, go ahead. :)
Thats the awesome part of open licenses.

Have a nice week,
David

Thanks :)

This is the first time I have ever had any luck editing a plasma theme, since imo they are pretty hard to do. I will keep working on the tab idea, but I will try to make it oxygen style tabs.

Keep up the fantastic work both on the icon and this theme.

 Suggestion...

by bicyclingrevolution on: Feb 12 2010

I like the tabbed appearance a lot--but I don't like it at the bottom of the screen. I prefer tabs that "open up" to the window, rather than having the rounded corners and background space between the tab and its window. It just doesn't make sense to me to cut the tab off from its window.
That being said, I moved the panel to the top of the screen. That way the stripe on the bottom blends with the window background.
Later I removed everything except the task manager from the panel at the top, centered, auto-hide, and made it stretch to fit however many windows I have open. Then I tweaked the panel until the dark space was exactly the same width as the window border. Now when I use the task manager, the light strip, active tab, and window background underneath the light strip all blend together. Now my tabs really look like they open up into the window!
Thanks for creating Shadowport! I just wanted to share my configuration with anyone who wants to take the tabbed style further.
