 Installation woes

by cesorensen on: Apr 10 2009

Score 50%

I did the "install widget from local file" but it displays "This object could not be created for the following reason: Could not create a python ScriptEngine for the Log viewer widget."

Running openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.2
Am I missing a dependency or something?

...and just to be clear it seems like it installed ok, I was able to add it from the list of widgets, but it doesn't seem to work.

Heheh, maybe I should do some research first before asking for help though =)

I believe that under openSUSE the "python-kdebase4" and "python-devel" packages are required to run python plasmoids. I would first check to see if those packages are installed. I hope this helps.

 can't find the relevant file

in some distributions the relevant file is called "messages.log". The plasmoid searches for "messages" so the result is:

/usr/bin/tail: cannot open /var/log/messages for reading: No such file or directory

you should probably let the plasmoid checks messages.log too

Hello people. I'm glad you tried it and i'll modify it so it'll use dmesg instead of messages.

It is my first python plasmoid.
