I see this same argument all the time...
the socialism Marx talked about has nothing
at all to do with what the soviet union and cuba twisted it into. that just replaced oppression with oppression. One could say that there has never been a real example of socialism or communism on this planet to date in witch to compare. Marx was about ending the economic domination witch has reared it's ugly head once more to oppress all but few well-offs. The freedom we talk so highly about in this country is not accessible to those who can't afford it.Take a look at our justice system for example. Got money, get lawyer/ No money go to jail. What originally inspired Marx was when he went to Manchester UK an saw 9yr old kids dying in coal mines and factories because there parents (good capitalists) couldn't afford to feed them most of the time. The robber barrons of that time have returned in full glory in the past decade. As in the past, there greed will stop at nothing until the have everything there piggish hands can stuff into there already full pockets.
And what most "so-called" Americans don't want to accept is that it is the very socialism the say they despise that has been built there highways, educated there children and them selves, privided healthcare to elderly people, delivered there mail, and other wise raised there wages to the point to where they have a chance to better them selves. Anyway thanx for the wallpaper.
