Description: Well, this is another mockup for the kde4. I really like things simple, beautiful and practical, So i have tried to simplify the most. I know that some people that switch to linux find it hard to learn, but i also know that is because the user has so many options to tweak that he gets scared and lost from the beginning. I think that if we only give him the basic stuff of a file manager from the begining he will be more confortable to explore the rest. Thats just a though. Sorry for my bad English. License: GPL

In my opinion especially the first screenshot looks like the graphical user interface of MacOS but better copy from MacOS than copy from Windows Vista :-)

I don't care if something is compied from MacOS X or Vista or whatsoever - as long as it improves usability for me. One shouldn't copy from those OSes just to copy the look, I don't like that either, but I highly appreciate copying usable things.

But usability is a very relative word: for some users usabilty means simplicity in look & feel, few buttons, as less options to choose from as possible - and for others usability means exactly the contrary: a highly customizable look and behaviour, as many options as possible.

BTW: I like how this mockup looks like, except from that tinytiny box at the lower left corner (not readable without magnifier). I assume that all buttons deleted from the toolbars are now accesible through a context menu? That means: show/hide sidebar, new tab, tile window (hor./ver.), show terminal emulator, open terminal from here, show/hide previews, show/hide/use filters, show iconview/list/details, in-/decrease size, search, send file, print, fullscreen... all buttons I have visible in my konqueror (+ the sidebar + the bookmarks toolbar). See, for me usabilty means having everything visible - what I don't see I don't use.

Want an easy way to install Debian Sid? Get sidux :)

Why all these are clones of these other OS's?

Why users cant understand that Gnome sucks because it is too simple, it is very easy to learn but you cant use it for multiple tasks easily. Windows is hard to learn and it is hard to use for multiple tasks. MacOSX is easy to learn and bretty easy to use for multiple tasks. KDE is hard to pretty hard to learn but it is very easy to use multiple tasks.

Gnome is way too simple
Windows is too simple
MacOSX is littlebit too simple
KDE is not simple it's very near simpler as possible.

Forget those MACOSX, Vista etc OS's and focus to idea very customized system what is flexible for 1000+ user files and use KIO-slaves easily etc etc...

Just showing few buttons is not anykind effort for usability. Customizing is and how to TEACH user to use own brains and tell what s/he wants....

KDE it just must be...

KDE 4! Pretty simple, looks modern, configurable.Should be light for system also. simple and easy navigating.

its way better then startup konqueror or dolphin to navigate your files...

i dont like it cause it is too simple. there is almost nothing at the window and i dont want to click for 500 times to get some thing I need

I respect your idea, but i really think that simplicity aligned with an intuitive interface his the future, and i´m not saying that we should go trough a gnome philosophy, i´m just saying that by default kde should look simple and, of course, you can later customize all the things if you want to.
You have said ".. i dont want to click for 500 times to get some thing I need." but i think most of the people do those clicks just to get ride of all unecessary things. Linux has a bad reputation of being harder to learn, thats why 90% of the folks i know that have tried Linux had came back to windoze. Sure Linux lovers can say " oh but its a different OS you have to spend time learning it..." or "...if you have questions just google it.". I am aware that if we what to customize everything in our system we really need to know a thing or two, but if all that we wanna do is to browse some files, write something or just playing videos or music (which is what the majority of the users do) things shoulden´t be complicaded from the start.
Thats why distros like Ubuntu and others with focus on usability and simplicity have such success.
Once again sorry for my bad English.
