Description:

A simple KDE Login (kdm) background. Thanks to the great work of other KDE-Look.org graphics people (Specifically, this is hacked from images from detsaot, developer of KSplash/ML and Risto, developer of KSplash-Introduction-2). I'm not a graphics person so I've stolen much of this from those! :) I have the GIMP source file for those who want it, just email me (this is how I've added things like the RedHat logo ;).

INSTALL: The easiest way is to just copy the appropriate png file to /usr/share/wallpapers and - as root - run 'kcontrol' and configure the
Login Manager to use this background.

DISTRO-SPECIFIC VERSIONS: I've now added RedHat and Debian specific images. There is also one with Tux included in the tar/gz file.




Changelog:

0.2 - Added 'welcome' text and other text to the top. Please see the second screenshot to get the idea.

0.3 - Hopefully cleaned up the 'welcome' text.

0.4 - New version distributed as a tar/gz archive (will package the GIMP xcf seperately). This contains several distro-specific images (Debian, RedHat, Tux, etc.). I need help getting good transparent SuSE, Mandrake, FreeBSD, Slackware, etc. logos. :)

0.5 - Finally seperated into both 800x600 and 1024x768 versions. See the appropriate category for each. Downloadable as a tar/gz archive.

Just need a good transparent BSD Daemon image, and it will be done! I plan on making this available for everything I can think of (Mandrake, SuSE, Slackware, etc.). Hopefully, once I can get a sizable file to upload to KDE-Look.org, I'll make the GIMP xcf file available and everyone can filter their work into me ;)

 Wallpaper on RH 7.2

How do I change the logon wallpaper on RH 7.2? I am running KDE and using the KDE logon manager. In the control centre I can specify the wallpaper to use and when I log out I see it for a second but then the default blue wallpaper with the Red Hat logo loads over top of it. Also, I have installed the Aqua theme but the logon manager doesn't use it. I don't get Aqua style until I log in. How to I make this theme a system wide theme and get the logon manager to use it?

You need to (as root), edit /etc/X11/xdm/Xsetup_0 file. RedHat uses xsri to load some of their stuff up on the screen.

Just comment out those lines which run xsri and xsetroot. This will take their stuff away. ;) Hopefully, redhat will make this easier to do in newer releases ;) HINT HINT!

could you make it available for other distributions as weel as on other sizes (somthing like 1024x768 ehit a mandrake or salckware logo on it?)?
