My concept of desktop for KDE4 bases on menu for Gimmie or Gnome. I like that idea very much and that is why I would like to see it in KDE.
The concept assumes the stress put on the ergonomics of work. The minimal amount of clicking and scrolling and as much as possible clarity.
The top panel consists of menu divided into four categories:
1)Computer
2)Applications
3)Documents
4)Contacts
The function of this menu could perform appropriately adjusted Lancelot because it presents the similar concept and you can make in it a division of categories to separate windows. There is a request to Iwan Čukić for careful consideration of my proposal. Lancelot is very good, however, I would dispose of scrollbars. The menu window should adjust the size to its content or in the contrary, when there are too many elements. In my opinion that would be much more convenient.
The bottom panel is also divided into categories:
1)Computer – includes widgets: Pager,Trash, New device notifier, Lock/Logout . There is a possibility of additional ones.
2)Applications – contains the icons of activated programs like e.g. Dolphin, Gimp, Konqueror
3)Documents – the icons of opened files/documents
4)Contacts – icons (small photos) of contacts from Kopete who I am talking with at the given moment.
Pointing at the icon that is on the panel effects in opening the information window with the name of the program, file or contact, together with the information on which desktop is the window of this program. The elements of the same kind are next to each other e.g. pdf files in one cluster and png in the other. If there are too many elements on the panel and they cannot be contained in the categories the part of them is hidden and after pointing the category with the cursor it (the category) expands showing all the content. If still there is not enough space the elements of the same kind create the group and exist under the symbol of one icon with a number that stands for a number of the elements in the group. Pointing at the given group with a cursor effects in opening that group and scrolling down the others.
If someone does not like the idea of two panels, only the bottom panel can be used because menu windows can be opened by clicking at the categories’ names on the bottom panel.

 Good, but...

I think it's very creative, and I would certainly encourage you to pursue this further for those that like it.

But... personally, I'm not a fan of the menu bar at the top, nor am I a fan of the way you've broken down the menu items in the mock up.

This mock up sorta resembles a marriage of GNOME and KDE (IMO) or KDE and OS-X, and while GNOME and OS-X has it's merits, neither interface suits my fancy. I just don't like their layout approach.

I like the black texturing though. That part does look stylish! So overall, nice work!

I love the look of the menu bars and the desktop overall. But from a usability perspective I would not like to see pictures of people who are online all the time... And pictures of what im working on will be useless since I program and most of it will just be blobs of text pasted in my taskbar.

I would love to see all of this as themes and widget styles though. That would be great!!!
