I am just curious why people cannot do anything by themselfs... from google you can find a lots of useful information like you could have found perfect installation guides from forums.gentoo.org

but here you are reading my small and literally odd guide made just for you. Good luck.

This document describes how to get splashutils up-n-running in a fast and
painless way on a Gentoo system. I suggest you to use latest versions and remember to unmask stuff into /etc/portage/package.unmask if asked.

1) Install the latest Gentoo kernel sources:
# emerge gentoo-sources

2) Configure, build and install your kernel:
# cd /usr/src/linux
# make menuconfig
# make
# make install modules_install

3) Install splashutils:
# emerge splashutils

4) Create an initramfs image for fbsplash:
# splash_geninitramfs -v -g /boot/fbsplash-emergence-1024x768 -r 1024x768 emergence

5) Configure your bootloader: (instructions for grub)
# cd /boot/grub

Edit menu.lst, find the entry for your kernel, and put 'splash=silent,theme:emergence'
onto the kernel command line. You should get something like this:

title Gentoo Linux (g-d-s 2.6.11)
root (hd0,4)
kernel /boot/gentoo-2.6.11 ro root=/dev/hda1 video=vesafb:1024x768-32@85 splash=silent,theme:emergence
initrd /boot/fbsplash-emergence-1024x768

This is it. Reboot and enjoy fbsplash :)

First ensure that bootsplash works.

Now how to get that my version working. it's easy. Just create that initramfs image but you should use images and configuration file from gentoo pool package. start from phase 4...

commonly used resolutions:
vga=788 - 800 x 600 - 16 bits
vga=791 - 1024 x 768 - 16 bits
vga=794 - 1280 x 1024 - 16 bits
