Description:

This is a graphical user interface for great (and free for individual users) command line antivirus called F-Prot.

Its very simple script but not featureless, I hope it will be useful.
As for now it works only for 4.x version of F-prot

Requirements:

Kommander (obviously)
F-prot 4.x
Perl and some perl modules needed for check-updates.pl (read manual)

*Auto detect for f-prot and check-updates.pl (you can select it by hand too if it fail for some reason)
*Added possibility to run check-updates.pl in user (default) or super user mode

Works good for me.

I had to fire up the kommander editor and resize a couple of boxes and buttons because some of the text was cut off in places, but other than that it seems to work great.

It works also for me. I'm using SUSE 10.1. I was looking for something like this GUI for a long time. I'm happy now. It's really useful.

Hi there,
on my old machine I had f-prot installed, so this script works fine for me. But now I've installed a newer version and there doesn't exist f-prot and check-updates.pl anymore. Instead you have fpscan and fpupdate as binaries in the f-prot folder. Even parameters have changed or aren't existing anymore.

Hmmm, that is weird situation, thanks for pointing it out.
On Frisk website there are two version of their antivirus for linux. Rpm (which im using) and deb versions compared to tar.gz version are totally different, i didnt catch this unfortunately, sorry.

now i got dilemma:
drop support for older version and rewrite fo new (less work ;), or do some workarounds and support both (more work and probably some options will be missing), or just make 2 versions of my program

as for now i will try put 2 versions of my script (for 4.x and 6.x), it will took me a while
then i will try make one program for them both

i forgot to write that F-prot 6.x is not free so probably it is not used widely
