The panel seems to be solid black. shouldn't it be transparent? How can I fix this?

with last update of Diamond 2.0.3 has been resolved the problem of panels solid black.

I just installed Kubuntu 15.04 which uses plasma 5 and tried to get diamond 1.5.6 working and it doesn't even recognize it. The newer diamond has a substantial space around the edges of each widget so I can't use it. Is there any chance of getting 1.5.6 working with the new plasma? I noticed that the air plasma theme has the same gap around the perimeter so I am guessing that diamond is based on that. Is there a way to eliminate the gap on the newer version of diamond?
