Description:

Dark Murrine GTK theme created for the Compiz-Fusion live CD (FusionLive). This isn't entirely complete and a lot more work will be done on it before the CD's release - I just wanted to get it out there for anyone who wanted to use it for themselves.

Requires Murrine-SVN to get the full effect.

The Emerald theme still needs a lot of work, so I won't be releasing it any time soon.

NOTE: If you're sticking with an older version of Murrina, change "highlight_ratio" to "hilight_ratio", the former has been added and the latter deprecated in the SVN version, which is what I would expect people to use.

EDIT: I no longer really care for the Emerald theme at all. Decorations shown in the new screenshot are from Jasper and show the first true Jasper theme. Jasper is the new (work in progress) decorator to go with Compiz and does some cool stuff but is no where near ready for release. I greatly support b0le's efforts in making Jasper, and suggest that you take a look at it. http://gitweb.compiz-fusion.org/?p=users/b0le/jasper;a=summary

Changelog:

Replaced file with installable tar archive. Sorry about that, file-roller was being iffy...

Update, June 4th: Major changes! A lot of the various elements have been set to use the "selected background color", ie buttons, scrollbar, menus (when clicked), etc. I've also made the theme fully customizable through the standard Gnome Appearance tool, so you can change the detail color (the red stuff) to make it anything you want (as well as the background, etc.) This is in preparation for inclusion of FusionLive, the Compiz-Fusion Live CD for which this theme is being made.

 Widget Transparency

How do I make the widgets, such as the window background in your screenshot, transparent? Everywhere I see screenshots of the murrine engine transparencies, without any explanation of how to achieve the effect

You need to first have Murrine SVN
svn checkout http://svn.gnome.org/svn/murrine/trunk/ murrine

Second, you need to manually edit config.h (after running ./configure with the appropriate options, make sure you have --enable-animation), and add "#define HAVE_RGBA 1", because it was recently put into a config option but wasn't added to the configure script or something like that.

Third, you need to have apps that support it. There's a list on Cimitan's website: http://www.cimitan.com/murrine/

I have done all these steps, and I still cannot get rgba, and cimi's site is down, so i can't even gothere to try to get any advice. Is there anything else that you can think of to help get this working?

 Tooltip colors

I'm debating whether to move the tooltip colors into their own setting (you know, the one labeled "tooltips"). Instead of just going and doing it, I'd like to take a vote. I don't know if I should change it because that would require you to edit another color when changing your theme around, but meh, your choice.

Reply with "yes" (do it) or "no" (leave it how it is) accordingly.

 Dark themes and OOo

OOo has a bug where it thinks dark GTK theme = high contrast mode - and trashes your icons. The only way to fix this is to use another theme. The best way to go about doing that is to write a script that will execute any app (as it's not just OOo that can look bad with a dark theme) with a different GTK2_RC_FILES set. When using a theme like mine - or any properly made them, that is - you need to make sure the theme you set it to does not use the color scheme, that is, it must have hard coded colors. I took Clearlooks and hard coded all of its default colors and saved it elsewhere. The script should look something like this:
#!/bin/bash
env GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/ClearlooksStatic/gtk-2.0/gtkrc $@

I saved it as "gtkwrap" in /usr/bin and made it executable. It works quite nicely. Hopefully the OOo developers will fix (they still haven't in 3.0b!)
