Description:

This is just a mockup.

Maybe this could make use of some Krita algorithms, if they are fast enough, see:
http://celarek.at/2010/06/krita-gsoc-implemented-algorithm-for-extracting-colours-and-ported-mypaint-algorithm-for-shade-selector/

If you use this algorithm for window thumbnails, you can detect the different colors.

But I think it would be too slow :/

As an additional switchable option, that would be cool :-)

I like the idea of using this in conjunction with an ARGB-enabled theme to give the illusion that the light that hits a window is actually passing through it, casting a colored shadow on the area behind.

i have absolutly no knowledge about how to do this, bit i think this shouldn't be very hard for the x-server itselfs. but the window manager will have much work to do this, as i think he doesn't know anything about what is insight the windows.

But i really love this idea. would be really great it this could be done :) Thanks for the idea

Thank you :)

Maybe it won't be impossible, because you can make use of window thumbnails.

maybe it's better to leave a traditional shadow as it is, adding some higly transparent colored glow, based on content color
so it would look like tv)
this could be done using some fast blurring techique
