Description:

Boomaga (BOOklet MAnager) is a virtual printer for viewing a document before printing it out using the physical printer.

The program is very simple to work with. Running any program, click “print” and select “Boomaga” to see in several seconds (CUPS takes some time to respond) the Boomaga window open. If you print out one more document, it gets added to the previous one, and you can also print them out as one.

Regardless of whether your printer supports duplex printing or not, you would be able to easily print on both sides of the sheet. If your printer does not support duplex printing, point this out in the settings, and Booklet would ask you to turn over the pages half way through printing your document.

The program can also help you get your documents prepared a bit before printing. At this stage Boomaga makes it possible to:

* Paste several documents together.
* Print several pages on one sheet.
* 1, 2, 4, 8 pages per sheet
* Booklet. Folding the sheets in two, you’ll get a book.

Changelog:

Version 0.7.1
Fix: In some situations, the program couldn't find the DBUS address.

Version 0.7.0
* Added profiles for printer, you can have several presets of settings for a one printer.
* Added "Clone job" feature.
* Added "Print with options" feature.
* Support print count options for CUPS
* Updated translations.
* Many fixes.

Version 0.6.2
* Fix: Boomagabackend can't convert big ps files to pdf.
* Fix: Added compatibility with poppler 0.28.0

Version 0.6.1
* Fix: Sometimes the program did not show the contents of the pages.

Version 0.6.0
* You can save and then load your piece of work.
* Added desktop file and MIME associations for saved project files.
* Added dag-and-drop support.
* Added two layouts for the vertical placement of pages.
* Added support for landscape documents.
* You can rotate the entire job, or page individually.
* Fixed wrong icon drawing for some icons themes.
* You can split long document on booklets, manual or automatically.
* Updated translations.
* Many fixes.

The preferences item should not work, now the program hasn't pref dialog at all. I forgot to hide the menu item. I'll hide this item in the new release, I plan to release 0.2 soon.

>I dont see the document in the preview area (i have only a grey window)
Now I'm installing Mageia in the virtual machine, I try to reproduce the problem. But you can help me - the program writes the errors to the /var/log/cups/error_log, please look at it.

W [27/Feb/2013:06:15:32 +0100] failed to CreateProfile: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply:Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

And in the config-system-printer utility, when i try to print a test page in boomaga printer i have this message:

The problem is with systemd and the file system namespaces - http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:RTHmpgzGAL8J:0pointer.de/blog/projects/changing-roots.

I've corrected this in the git, please try the new version.

Ok i tested it it works fine now in Mageia 2 too.
I prepared a rpm:
http://www.mageia-gr.org/rpm/2/x86_64/boomaga-0.1.0-1mgr2.x86_64.rpm
it is the git version c37b122caa
To install it to Mageia 2 , it needs another rpm now which it is nt available in Mageia 2, and i packaged it too:
http://www.mageia-gr.org/rpm/2/x86_64/snappy-1.1.0-1mgr2.x86_64.rpm
http://www.mageia-gr.org/rpm/2/x86_64/snappy-devel-1.1.0-1mgr2.x86_64.rpm

It does nt work in Mageia 3
I have this message:

Dbus machine-id file '/var/lib/dbus/machine-id' not found.

i found these lines in /var/log/cups/error_log

I run 'systemd-machine-id-setup' as root, it did nt work.

The CUPS backend (running under root) start GUI through DBUS message. For that it should to know DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS for user. Algorithm is:
1. The backend read DBUS machine ID from @DBUS_MACINE_ID_DIR@/machine-id file. In Ubuntu the /machine-id placed in /var/lib/dbus/, in Mageia3 in /etc.
You cvan set DBUS_MACINE_ID_DIR using cmake option like:
cmake -DDBUS_MACINE_ID_DIR=/etc ..

2. Then backend reads DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS from one of file from ~/.dbus/session-bus/ dir.

But CUPS backend not work properly in Mageia3. The Mageia3 don't have files in ~/.dbus/session-bus/ directory. I can't found where Mageia keep user DBUS session files. If you know point me, please.

Today or tomorrow, I try to write new algorithm for cups backend. If you interested yet, please contact with me (sokoloff.a AT gmail.com).

In Mageia they have dropped this function:

http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/dbus/current/SPECS/dbus.spec?r1=321907&r2=321913

This change in git:
https://github.com/Boomaga/boomaga/commit/2bd4df3a46a7727aceb5f57767cfb045da445b7b#cups/boomaga

has fixed the problem (tried in Mageia 3, 64bits)

 This is great

You are my hero. For a long time I have been waiting and hoping this would come to Linux. I use it too create PDF with documents / webpages from different sources on Kubuntu. The main thing which is missing:
- Saving and loading, I mean the possibility to save the documents which are in the pipeline. Useful e.g. for writing job applications. I have my cv and other attachments ready in the saved status. Which I reload when I write a cover letter for a new job application.
- Document title. When printing to a PDF, Boomaga at the moment seems to transmit nothing or untitled document which unfortunatle not only is part of the created document name, but also leaves an empty page title in the created pdf. Would be great, if this could be set in Boomaga.

Thanks for the kind words.

I don't understand you completely. What do you mean about "save"? Ability to save all open documents and settings as a one "project" file? What would the next day you could open this project and continue working?
If yes, I plan this feature, but I should to design project file format. I have some ideas but it requires some time.

Yes, now title of the output document is empty. I'll add meta info dialog.

Would be better, if you open issue in the issue tracker.
