Description:

This software helps you add a little more security to your desktop. It does so by detecting one of your bluetooth devices, most likely your mobile phone, and keeping track of its distance. If you move away from your computer and the distance is above a certain level (no measurement in meters is possible) for a given time, it automatically locks your desktop (or starts any other shell command you want).
All action commands can be edited via gui now.
Logging is now available - to syslog or a normal file.
An rfcomm channel scanner allows now to use any bluetooth device for range checking.

Changelog:

This release brings much more languages and some changes due to Ubuntu/Debian packaging policies.

This is a great app! I had something similar implemented using some scripts, but your program works much better.

maybe if you made it so it turns the screen off instead? That would be even cooler, in my opinion..saves some energy.

hm, you could even enter your own command. I did not check which command that would be at the moment, but I am sure there would be an appropriate command for linux.

bye

Hi,

I just saw your question was not answered yet so here is the command to switch the display off:

xset dpms force off

You may combine it with any other command via && or put it in a script that you call from BlueProximity.

Bye
Lars
