Yes, that is more or less what I wanted to do with this theme, to make something simple and usable for myself. I also have a friend who commented that Metacity is slow, and I wanted to see if it could be made faster. Bentham does seem quite a bit faster than the majority of themes, but I am not sure how big a difference it makes overall.

The program metacity-theme-viewer does have a benchmark feature. According to that, Bentham is faster than any other theme I've tested. Of course there may be even faster themes, because I haven't tested them all.

I haven't seen one faster, but I haven't tested every theme. I like it. Thx! I modded it a little for myself. It is slower, but it's a litle different.

You'll notice a lot of pixmap themes are as fast, or faster, than pure themes. Yet, when you use the pixmap themes you can actually see them draw on the desktop and they are obviously slower.
