Hi, I'm looking for a bootsplash screen that looks something like this,

I dont know if one like this already exists. If so, then point me to it. This was taken from the movie swordfish.

Why isn't it possible to post wallpapers which are suitable for all desktopsystems? I've some beautiful landscape photos, which can be used everywhere.

There are so many Problems on this and his sister sites:

xfce themes section here on opendesktop
displays only Xfwm-themes
and non gtk2 themes

on gnome-look is an xmms, mplayer, vlc -section(non of these programs are gnome-based)

on xfce and the box-sites are no screensaver an splashscreen section

and the voting still sucks

sry for my bad english

I was about to ask the same. A generic category of wallpapers unrelated to any desktop and are published in all sub-sites "desktop-look" at a time. But I see that your message is from 2008 and nothing has changed. I hope that those responsible for OpenDesktop attend this issue.

How about selecting a wallpaper site and posting a link with a representative set or contact plate presented, assuming you did any grouping by palette or matte.

 Screensaver with a ballerina

by GiuliaC on: Apr 3 2010

Hello,
I am trying to find a screensaver with a ballerina, dancing in a ballet.

The problem is that I barely know how to add a wallpaper on my desktop, I am a total beginner at Linux.
So creating a screensaver is out of my knowledge.

=> Any idea on where can I find a good screensaver for my computer with a ballerina ?

Thanks in advance for your help

I have to say I'm a little nonplussed; certainly you have a variety of means of selecting fine art, hobbyist illustration, 3D or other images, curating them into a directory ( probably under ~/Pictures/BallerinaScreenLock , or something like that ) and configuring either your OS's image screensaver to use that directory or searching Sourceforge to get the 3D models rendered by something appropriate in xscreensavers or another screensaver compatible with your desktop (e.g. gnome-screensaver.)

Perhaps particular troupes have publicists, and particular fine artists are keen to make artifacts to promote the troupes; both ways or only one, surely a treat awaits you?

My proposal is do it yourself. How?

1. Install a plugin, program, screensaver that plays a short movie. Sometimes this is the first and the only step without the following ones. :)
2. Use Makehuman (for sculpting) or use any of free premodelled models.
3. Use any POVRay based free programs for animation to base it.
You'll see it very fast, practically all use this rendering engine. So, there is only preference of GUI.
4. Transform such a film into format that your screensaver supports.
5. Use it in your screensaver.

Clear enough?

Perfect in every way but scripting screenlock (...xscreensaver is universal but it's always possible it was elided that the target is a Nokia96) but you probably meant to reply to the original author.

Is it me, or do the links OpenDesktop.org drops lack some specificity? Still, beats entering a nice reply like that and getting back a black page that says NOBODY WILL HEAR SUCH A THING.

 QtCurve

by RyanMcCoskrie on: Nov 6 2011

For those who haven't met it, QtCurve is a solution for the mess of separate Qt/KDE/GTK themes. It appears as just another native theme to all of the above widget sets but it has themes and theme making facilities of its own.

The problem is, where should I put a QtCurve theme? All three widget sets sections? Themes/Other? Demand that QtCurve gets a section of its own?
